A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CAREGIVER / DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)
As an entry-level Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP) in residential care, you provide the necessary one-on-one support to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Most of your day is spent assisting clients one-on-one with their personal needs in a private home setting, which includes lifting them in and out of wheelchairs as well as helping with self-care and hygiene. You also take residents out as needed for appointments or activities. You interact respectfully with each person and promote their own individual freedom and choices. By providing support, you help them maintain their personal property as well as promote new activities, socialization, and community engagement.
In addition, you interact with other staff members and supervisors as well as provide additional support wherever it's needed. You stay informed of our emergency protocols in case of a crisis. Safety is of the utmost importance, and you make sure that the well-being of the individual you work with is always a priority. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CAREGIVER/ DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)
18+ years old
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Reliable transportation
Ability to pass a background check upon hire
